Our History
The origins of the company date back to the 2nd World War when Canadians wanted to send apples to the troops overseas. They would venture out to their local Eaton’s department store where they would place their order for overseas delivery.
Given the strong ties between Canada and the U.K., the practice of sending “gifts” to friends, relatives and business associates continued and grew through Eaton’s after the war. The offerings were expanded to include gift baskets and flowers.
Following the demise of Eaton’s in the late ‘90’s, the mailing list of previous customers was purchased by a gentleman who then started the business, British Overseas Gifts.
When the website went up in 2002, the name Gifts to Britain was adopted as the URL and de facto marketing name. In 2009, the company was purchased and a new website went up in 2020. The company was then purchased again in 2022 by it’s current owner and operates out of a small town in South-Western Ontario.

Jessica Bickell is the proud owner of Gifts to Britain, a venture she acquired in September 2022. With her previous career spanning over a decade in online education and digital publishing, she brings a wealth of experience to the business.
Throughout her corporate journey, Jessica demonstrated strong leadership capabilities, effectively guiding teams of over 100 individuals and overseeing multi-million-dollar publishing projects. Her aptitude for problem-solving and tech-savviness facilitated a seamless transition to managing an online retail site.
Above all, Jessica is renowned for her personable demeanor and unwavering reliability, qualities that she takes great pride in bringing to Gifts to Britain to ensure exceptional service for valued customers.
